Faith <3

Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” We look at that scripture and realise that it is only through faith we can please our Father. But how do we get this faith? First of all, we don’t have to pray for it because when we were born-again, Romans 12:3 tells us that God has GIVEN everyone a measure of faith… it was a gift, we already have it! That measure of faith that God has given us pleases God. If we were to give someone an iTunes card, and we saw that they were using it, we would be very pleased about the gift we have given… same with God. But… like faith that iTunes card needs to be activated, however if they don’t know how to activate it, they can’t use it. Some Christians live their whole life not knowing how to activate their God-given faith; therefore they live miserable and sad lives. John 10:10 tells us that Jesus came so that we have life and life more abundantly. Therefore, we were meant to activate this faith.

But still the question remains, how do we activate this faith? If the person we gave the iTunes card to didn’t know how to activate it, because we want them to use their gift, we would tell them how to activate it ourselves… the same with God. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God! God tells us in His Word how to activate our faith. We need to know what the Word says. 

The way I have realised that I activate my faith is understanding and applying two principles:
1- In Him I can do everything (Philippians 4:13), and
2- Without Him I can do nothing (John 15:15)!
If we understand these two things, we no longer think we can do things by ourselves. Therefore, the only way we can do things, is by trusting in God… therefore activating our faith. 
James 4:6 tells us that God gives grace and favour to the humble but resists the proud. How can we be in faith if we are trying to do things by ourselves without God, when faith in God means trusting Him? When we understand that without God we are nothing, then God’s grace (divine ability) will get us through because we are trusting and relying on Him! Therefore we are in faith! When we come to the conclusion that it is God and God alone that can get us through what we are going through, we are in faith!
